Wm. McLaughlin Judge of I present above the first settlement of the account of Joseph M. Kagey, Executor of the Estate of Abraham Sager, Dec'd. This settlement has been made under the provisions of the will of Decedent - which gave to the Executor - 1st the one half of the balance of outstanding money and cash on hand (which are construed to include all personalty) after the payment of Funeral expenses and testator's debts.  These personalties amounted to $1359.10 - the expenses & debts to 845.98 leaving 578.17 to be divided between the Executor and A.V. Sager_  It will thus be seen that A.V. Sager has been overpaid on this account the sum of 16.06 - which Executor may reserve from payment due by him to A.V. Sager under the will in 1885, and when reserved is to be used in the payment of costs.  The Executor sold certain stock named in the will for $225.00 of which he has paid $100 to Minnie E. McLeod (Niswander), $50.00 to A.V. Sager, and $50.00 to himself_  as the will provides.  The remaining $5.00_ your commsr assigns under the will to the Executor for the care and board of Samuel Sager, deceased brother of the testator.  There is a balance in hand of Executor of $28.95 and also still remaining to be administered, as the will provides, a portion of the money & bonds, assessed in the appraisement at 1869.30 of good_ 265.50 of doubtful and 150.60 of book account assets. Notice of this settlement was posted at Circuit Court. Respectfully submitted, W. J. Points C.C. (the following analysis by Steve Rosenwasser, contemporary, about 2006-2012 ) The executor of the will, Joseph M. Kagey was born February 5, 1850 in Shenandoah Co, VA and died January 16, 1923.  His parents were David Neff Kagey and Mary Miller.  Mary Miller was a 1st cousin of Abraham Sager.  Her father Samuel Miller was a brother of Abraham Sager's mother Barbara. On April 2, 1874, in Rockingham Co, VA, Joseph M. Kagey married Rebecca Garber who had been raised by Abraham Sager since at least 1860.  Rebecca Garber Kagey was born March 17, 1854 and died April 4, 1915. The children of Rebecca Garber and Joseph M. Kagey were:  Mary Alice Kagey (12/26/1874 - 11/7/1927), David Sager Kagey (9/10/1876 - 11/3/1916), William Otis Kagey (7/30/1879 -          ), Fannie Rebecca Kagey (3/17/1884 -          ), and Emer Isminius Kagey (7/21/1886 - 7/6/1887).  By the time Abraham Sager made his will in 1882, Rebecca Garber Kagey had named her first-born son after him. According to the 10/4/1930 obituary for A.V. Sager in The Gospel Messenger, one of Elder J.M. Kagey's daughters married William Long and continued to own and occupy the house.
